Anyone know a good chiropractor...Knackered the base of my spine

Hey all just wondering if anyone knew of a decent and inexpensive...ish Chiropractor. I screwed the base of my back a few weeks ago and its not really getting much better. Brought a back brace for work as i do a fair bit of heavy lifting but think I may need some expert advice now.

Any thoughts, advice or recommendations would be great.....thanx

Hi Leon!......if you have strained your back it is not going to get better while you are still lifting at work, backbrace or no backbrace, if fact wearing a brace to help dull the injury while you lift is likely to make it a whole lot worse. If your body is giving you pain it is telling you not to do something.

Did you injure it at work?....if so i hope you have filled in an injury form and reported it?

My advice would be whatever else you do is either take a few days off of work or don't do any lifting etc at work for a few days.....

Sorry i don't have any chiropractor recommendations, personally i wouldn't go to one ever.

ps hope you feel better soon

I also recommend an assessment at a Specialist Medical Centre as a start. You do need some professional advice to make sure you recover quickly.

My daughter went to SA Sports Medicine to see about a strained ligament in her leg, after being diagnosed with that at RAH, and they immediately sent her for scans, MRI etc. where it was found she had cracked the bone. I am not sure I would confidently diagnose myself.

agreed Cliffy!.....definatly need a more comprehensive diagnosis than "screwed"!

if for example you have a bulging disc the diagnosis and treatment could result in anything from the disc setling back with no long term problems, up to beyond having to have the disc surgically removed and having a spinal fusion

Out of interest Claire-and-tel why wouldnt you go to a chiropractor??

Well personal choice and i know you'll find lots of people who swear by them........i have never met a neurosurgeon or orthopaedic surgeon who would recommend one.

i would rather leave my spine to be treated by someone with the in depth medical knowledge to do so.

Hope you are feeling better soon :smile:
