air con help

Hi guys

 

Wonder if anyone can help.

 

My air con/heating is set off, yet it is blowing out cold air from the vents (only faintly, but you can feel it) and where the filter is, it's got like a humming noise, like it is on, yet as I've said, the actual control is set at off.

 

Could anyone enlighten me as to why, before I need to call someone out to have a look.

 

Just thought I'd take my chances on here, to see if anyone knows what's wrong.

My hubby is an air con engineer, we are arriving in Adelaide Nov 5th, obviously we are still in the uk.

 

He said what kind of system is it, does it have a fresh air intake supply to it? does this happen for minutes or continously.
