      Which High School

Hi everyone, I know Im jumping the gun a bit but need to keep researching while we play the waiting game for our visa to be processed so...in my dreams my family are living somewhere in the southern suberbs, on a bus/train route to the city and near the country/beach, also need to consider one of my daughters who is horse mad. My girls are nearly 14 ( and hopepfully not too much older by the time we get to Oz) so a good high school is vital. I doubt we will be able to afford private so have looked at the local state schools i.e. Alberfoyle, Reynella, Seaview and Hallet Cove. I would love to hear any opinions on any or all of these schools (i do realise it's a very personal thing however...) if anyone can tell me anything at all I would love to hear, as the websites only say so much. Also any info about the various catchment areas would be appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you. Livin in hope x:)Jane

Hi check out the dept of educations website - www.decs.gov.au you will find all the info you require with regards to school that are zoned to the areas you are looking to live in. Also worth noting that there is a website called myschool, will give you all the stats for the given years with regards to resukts & acheviements - these results are not to taken too seriously just as a guide - they can be useful but like all advice it is up to you weather you take it or not!
Our daughter is starting Brighton Secondary school (BSS) in Jan next year - has a very good reputation - they offer both music & sport special intrest programs. The zoning is quite tight for BSS but as you would be looking at year levels higher that year 8 it maybe worth you concidering. Fee for seconary school vary I believe that the average is $600 for state school plus uniform etc. Catholic schools are around $5k & independant schools - like Immanuel, Mercedes etc are around the $12-18k mark. I hope you find the info useful! Steph x

      Hi there
We arrived end of may and live in Seacliff. Our eldest goes to Seaview High which he loves. They have a specialist tennis or music programme and he has joined the tennis programme.
We didnot make an appointment to view the school just turned up and they were very welcoming and took time out to meet with us there and then, didnot get sent away!
Zack was accepted even though Year 8 was full as we live in the zone.
Everyone there has been very helpful/friendly.
      Fees $550/year uniform approx $150-200.
Seacliff is lovely, 5 min walk to beach, 5 min walk to train station. Primary school for youngest at end of road!!!
      Good luck.
