Don't know about schooling Heather as our two are grown up, but know that Hallett Cove is a great place to live.
It has two railway stations and regular buses from the shopping centre into the CBD and is within easy travelling distance of; the beach, the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, Victor Harbor, Kangaroo Island and of course the City.
There are also one or two Boro fans here too, but they can't help it.![]()
Howard, Maria, Jamie, & Sam.
We have been here 8 months now. Have two children in the local school. Fantastic sea views from most of Hallett cove, as it is built on a slope.
I have just come back from the beach this evening...and have been watching dolphins. Fantastic

I am so jealous; we are waiting for state sponsorship and IELTS 8s. i missed one section by 1/2 in the last one, the oter sections i got top marks...if i don't get 8s we will be coming on the 475 SS instead of the 176 SS as i have enough points for that visa without the 8s.
What are the house prices like? Is the school good? I have 2 children one 14 and the other 7.
Houses prices are generally chepaer than nearer the city/northern beaches, but more expensive than further south( Aldinga/Seaford etc). Basically the housing gets cheaper the further south you go. However Hallett Cove is generally more expensive than going inland ( ie Sheidow park, O'Halloran Hill), as it has coastal view. Thats only a very rough guide, depending on size of property etc.
My kids go to Hallett Cove R12. the school seems ok. It probably isnt the best school in the area and i doubt its the worse. We havent had any terrible problems and the problems we have had have been addressed by the school and sorted out. Both boys have made lots of friends and are happy there. We never have any problems getting them to go and they are very settled, which for us counts for a lot. Ours boys were 17 and 8 when they started there.
Ielts....i would say stick with trying to get the marks you need, to be eligable for your 176. Even if it means retaking it again. Practice and practice previous papers etc until you have got the knack of the questions. It will be worth it in the end to come as a permanent resident, with eligability to centrelink etc.
Good luck
Donna
