Primary school north east?
What are they really like?
We moved here 5 months ago and enrolled our then 5 year old in Keithcot farm school wynn vale and think we have made a mistake
. He has fallen behind in school and has turned into the kid from hell!!! He was a bright happy friendly boy in UK so this is something we aren't use to. I've helped out at the school and find they are behind in the teaching (I worked with children in UK) and kids do seem to wonder around the school. The final straw has now come as my son was given a spelling (just 1 of 3) of a word that isn't a word (brang) when I asked the teacher to put this in a sentance she said " I brang my books to school" when I said it should be 'brought' she wasn't happy and said I was wrong. So how can I trust them with my son's education, and I'm no brain box lol.
So are now looking at another school and today we visited Golden Grove primary which does seem a nice school but dont want to move him to find this school is the same.
kings and perdare are full.
can anyone tell us the good bad and ugly on primary schools?

Disclaimer:- The above is just my opinion. It doesn't mean its right or wrong. Its just the way I see it.

My kids go to Salisbury Heights at the botton of the Target Hill Road and although they are only there from end of January I have no complaints. They have all settled very well and are very happy there.
After 2 weeks at the school the head mistress reckoned my twins were not were they should be with reading and asked if it was ok to take them alone each day for a half hour, of course I agreed and in just 6 weeks since they have surpassed their class mates having that one on one tutoring. I was upset that their teacher felt they were behind but pleased that it was spotted quickly and acted upon.
Good luck with your choice it's a hard one to make

I know if it wasn't my son's teacher I would have found it funny too ;). The thing is the teacher is going to check with her husband that she is right lol.
Is good that the school picked it up and are bring them up to speed or should I say brang them up to speed lol.

I definitely think you have a rogue teacher there, have you mentioned this to the head? Ours go to Woodcroft Primary and are doing great. Our 8 year olds behaviour has improved and he has gained in confidence. Theschooling system definitely suits him better here.
Don't forget also that when children get to the age of 5-6 they turn into little so and so's for a few years
. At work we dread looking after that age groupas they are such hard work!!!! Our oldest is 8 is just growing out of that and our 6 year old has started, so as well as the school not helping he is probably just at the age too and hopefully with a change of school will improve.

Try sending a PM to Jo (Salisbury Massive I think) - she lives around your way and has done a lot of research into schools. I know St Davids near to Banksia Park has a good reputation and know of several kids that have gone there - that's private if you wanted to go that way - and I have heard good things about Fairview Park which is a state school, but think that might be a bit too far to the east. Jo's the one, she's a mine of info.

I can only be nice to one person each day....today is NOT your turn...and tomorrow isn't looking too hopeful either.

Hi my daughters go to Golden Grove Primary and to be honest I really like the school there technique's of teaching are better than in the Uk for my daughters and they are thriving, They are really nice and friendly there including mums it is a large school, but if you want an mums perspective on the school PM me and we will have a chat.
Anyway good luck with looking around, also it might be worht looking around Wynn Vale School it also seems to be popular.

Hi Tina,
I can highly recomend Redwood Park, www.redwoodparkprimary.com.au Bailey and Hannah both go there and Frankie goes to the play group there also. It is not a very large school and has a great community spirit to it. So far I have been very pleased with the progress made by Bay and Han.
