Routine exams - what's the procedure?

We have been here a year and all those routine checks like skin cancer and smear tests are due. Just wondering if we go via a gp or if specialised clinics are preferable?

 

We live just north of the CBD so any recommendations for Drs / clinics in this area would be welcome.

Hiya.. I can only help with Smear's, mine is due this month but had my 6 week postnatal check up at the doctors this week and she told me to just make another appointment with her. So at my doctors in Glenelg they do them.

Hi Nic smears can be done through your doctor, I went with a woman doctor who works along side our GP but you can go anywhere results come back in days.

 

Mole checks the only place I know is in Tea tree gully and they bulk bill keep meaning to get that done. But if you ask at your GP they may do it or know someone who can xx

I go to a place on Goodwood Road, near the city for mole checks - 83570323 - they bulk bill too. Had a couple of check ups and a mole removal here and no problems.

you can get a referral from a GP to do the blood assay stuff (FBE; E /LFT's; LIPIDS; HDL/LDLfasting sugars etc ) from an IMVS service at a local pharmacy such as 71 Walter St in North Adelaide. These are bulk billed.

You can self- refer to a Skin Cancer Clinic such as Rainforest and they will also bulk bill.

 

There is a specialised Womens Health Centre also in N Adelaide for smears etc (?Pennington Tce near the Cathedral).

 

You will need to be more specific about your suburb for reccommendations about GP's ...but look around: quite a few will bulk bill (-if only for part of the working week)
