Hi all

I would really appreciate anyone who can offer advice for a really painful problem I am having. Went to dentist yesterday and told after several x-rays that I have an absess under my tooth. Now been reffered to specialist. Does anyone know what treatment I will have and costs etc? Please help as I am in a lot of pain and worried about what will happen and mounting costs.

I have been to see a specialist this week, as I have an abcess under my tooth, and they have decided to take the tooth out, have got to wait until November until its done though (not in any pain and apparently the abcess has been there a while) anyway I have also got to have another tooth out on the same day, and its all going to cost about $1000!!! The reason its so expensive is because I'm terrified of the dentist and will be under sedation for the extractions, think if you have the tooth out at the dentist its cheaper, they can also give you a root canal, think thats pretty expensive too....hope I've been of some help to you!

If you don't have health insurance it's about $1000 give or take. You could have a look at Dental, Dentist, Dentists, Cosmetic Dentist - Save on Great Dental Care | NobleDentist - there is one in Adelaide (Payneham I think from memory) and there's a price comparison on the site (Dental Fees - South Australia | NobleDentist)

I had one done last year at our local dentist, took about four visits in all but as usual with dentists, the most painful bit is the dentist trying to get his whole arm in your mouth to do the treatment!!
