I'm a regular blood donor in the UK - I've had tattoos - you can't give blood for 12 months after having one - gutted to think I wont be able to do it in Oz.

For anyone who is interetsed we wanted to join the Australian Bone Marrow register but we're informed that we could not due to this CJD issue. I challanged this as we have been on the Antony Nolan register in the UK for years. They have considered this, and have agreed to let us join the Australian register.
I know that we still cannot give blood but it is something!

My daughter Stephanie was born in the UK in 1988, and lived there until 11 months old, when we left for Adelaide. She isn't allowed to give blood either. Now that's just plain stupid!
