      Hey,

We never bought any records with us at all..

Unless you have any medical conditions to make docs aware of i dont think they are a neccessity!

      maybe kids vaccination records(if applicable)

We didn't bring our medical or dental records either and so far haven't needed them.

Child's immunisation history will be required though (Red book)

There is an alternative way to get your medical records, and it can't cost any more than £10. If you apply for a copy of them under the Freedom of Information Act, they are obliged to give you the copy within 20 days.

I didnt get mine and I have never needed them. The doctor will ask you if you have any on going probs and you should be able to tell that! Same for dentists.
The only thing I was asked for was immunisation records, and they dont cost anything to get from your doc or local health authority.

Even if your kids or yourself are under the care of a specialist, normally the specialist will know who you have to see here and will give you a letter of introduction and quite often if it's a complex matter will contact the specialist here before hand with info. Otherwise if more info is needed the specialist here will contact the one in UK. Don't bring your medical records.

If you really need to take your medical records, then get them under the freedom of information act. Anyone who holds any information on you is legally obliged to give you that information for the fee of £10. Just quote the act when requsting your records.

Under the freedom of information act there may be a fee or may be not.

GPs have a set standard of fees which is recommended from there professional body. The recommended cost for a set of notes photocopied is £50.00 however the GP can charge more for a large set of notes or less.

If cost us £5.00 for 3 copied letters from the GP (that was after asking for a discount)

If you are under a specialist it may be worth getting a copy of your medical records as all hospital letters will be sent to your GP.

Also if you are under a specialsit it would be worth getting there opinion on how your condition will affect you in relation to working for a living and being able to look after yourself.

      Smile

      Update
We have found that particularly with younger ones, having a list of all their injections has been good to have to hand for the Kindies etc.
Not had to use anything else that we got copies for in the UK, although the dentist docs may be usefull (Kids Braces)
