      Advice on medicals

      Hi everyone,

Don't know if anyone can help, getting so excited now have just submitted main application and will be going for our medicals shortly.:)

As some of you will have probably read in previous threads i have Epilepsy however not had a seizure for over 2yrs. I have been in touch with my specialist and he has sent me a letter. Which i was a little dissapointed with. However after reading it a few times i thought theres not really anything else he can say.

He described the type of Epilepsy, when my last seizure was, the fact i have a responsible job and it does not interfere with this. I work alone and my seizures in the past were infrequent and are now controlled. That basically was it.

My doctor is going to write me a similar letter. Has anyone had a similar experience. Also if anyone knows if more information is required if so what? Should the letter have more detrail do i need copies of reports or something or is that short and straight to the point report sufficient. Everything going so well but so nervous about the medicals as my OH has a bad back. Were both thinking the worst as we both have conditions.

Sorry this is such a long post but hoping there are others in a similar position and passed. Especially with similar conditions. Also has everyone put down on the forms operations they had when a child and if they were in hospital for short stays etc. I have heard people say with certain things they wish they had not bothered mentioning minor conditions they had when younger as they wanted all sorts of info on it and it held things up. Any advice would be appreciated. All so confusing don't no wats right and wrong it's like ya tick that ya in that one ya out!

      Thanks Jo and Tom

Hi, sorry I can't help with this problem but just wanted to drop you a line as we are from chorley too. We have completed the visa process just waiting for the yes, so if you need any more advice we will help if we can.

      Hi Jo and Tom,

I wouldn't worry too much. When you have your medicals the doctor will ask you various questions and also assess the letter from your consultant and GP and whether he needs more information from them.

We had our medicals done at King Street, Manchester and the doctor was lovely. He made us all feel very relaxed.

I had had my tonsils out when I was a young girl, and I told him about this. I don't think it is a big deal.

My OH had a previous problem with his shoulder, which is now fine. The doctor at King Street did the necessary examinations and also seemed to think that his shoulder was fine. He did say that he would write to the GP for further information on this. We thought this might hold our visa up, but it did not. I think they just have to cover all avenues otherwise they wouldn't be doing their job properly.

You just need to be honest with the answers you give to the doctor and he will do the rest.

      Good luck!!

      Hi Alison

Thanks for that, we are waiting for a CO now been 6 weeks which i suppose doesn't seem a long time for people that have had to wait a year, but nearly pulling my hair out. Medicals were fine like you said Doctor was great made us both feel at ease so fingers crossed.

I think they will want more information on our conditions but won't know untill we get CO i presume. We have sent police checks of so can't do any more now,

      Thanks Jo and Tom x

      Hi Jo & Tom
Just like to wish you well with the Med results. We had a stressful time with the meds, like you we had a report done and all went through fine. I think they are more concerned if you are going to be a burden on the health system... which you are not. So I think you will be fine. x

Patricia P- We are from Chorley too, living in Seacliff now. Someone sent us the Chorley Citizen a few weeks ago.... and we read 15s had shut down on fazackerly street... dont know if you went there.
How are you finding things so far in Adelaide?

Our last port of call was Chorley, well Coppull. Stayed with the inlaws, they are here now!

      Anyway.
We had some medical problems which delayed our process, by us not by immigration. We had very detailed doctors reports and included them in the application.
We also listed EVERYTHING. in our eyes too much info was not a bad thing, others may disagree, but it gave us piece of mind.

Whats chorley like with Wollies gone?

      Good luck with the application

If you can give extra information to the examining doctor when you have physicals for immigration it certainly does speed up the process. I have had to go through these examinations several times and now have it down to a fine art. Just be honest, once again they want to know if you are going to be a burden on the country and the medical system, if you have pre-existing conditions that will arise again it would be foolish not to be honest. What is meant to be will happen, I am sure that you will be fine, I'm terrible whenever I have my tests done I get the shakes and they then think that I have some horrible disease, I now even take a letter explaining my anxiety from my gp.

All the best to you all and keep in touch and let us know how you get on one way or the other.

Living in Seaford Rise with a view of the sea and the sun setting in the evening just doesn't compare to the one we had over the canal in Chorley and stretching up to the Nab in the pouring rain! Gosh we're HAPPY here! Our new Polish tenants like it tho'! Thankfully! Went to Parramatta, Sydney in Januaary and the Ozzie sales girl in Jeans West had lived there for 7 years and wants to go BACK!! Mad or what?!!!
