Hi All,
I wondered if anyone could shed some light on the subject of Diabetes and whether prescriptions for it are free like they are in the UK? Or would you have to pay for your medication here?
Many thanks in advance

Have a look at the website for Diabetes SA. http://www.diabetessa.com.au/aspx/home.aspx
I saw something advertised on TV recently about registering with a diabetes association which enables cheaper prescriptions. I doubt it would be free - even the contraceptive pill isn't free here!

you still have to pay for precriptions here even when diabetic. But if you spend over a certain amount in a year the next year you get a discount. Will ask my friend about it as thats what her other half does.

If your doctor signs you up onto diabetes SA, stuff is A LOT cheaper, there are a list of the chemists that participate in the scheme, and although there are not loads, you are sure to have one fairly near you.
