FREEVIEW boxes - retuning?

Hi all,

 

Container arrived yesterday and having shipped my HUMAX PVR (Freeview box that records) I am now trying to tune it in, without much success.

 

Anyone know what settings I should be looking for? I've tried the usual searches and scan but got no where.

 

Alternatively, has anyone found any Aussie AV Forums that they can point me in direction of?

Don't shoot the messenger, and I am not there so I am only going on what I read here but either PIO or PIA have a home electricals section and in a sticky post it said most freeview boxes are useless out there. Hope yours isn't

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I also owned a Humax PVR in the UK which I thought was wonderful. It is still in the UK as we still own our home there.

In Aus we bought a Homecast PVR which is rubbish compared to the Humax, so when I recently had an email from Humax offering a PVR for about £80 I emailed them to ask if it would work in Australia, only to get a reply that they would not work here.

I cannot quite understand the reasons why, as one would have thought that the digital TV signals would work in the same way in both countries.

I shipped one out as well. found it would play things recorded on it in the U.k which gave me hope it would work but couldn't tune it to do anything else!So if you find out I'd be interested.

Ah well - looks like I have a fancy door stop. Luckily the thing is full of stuff recorded in the UK so I can still watch that.

 

I can also use the 160Gb memory to back-up the computer (I think?) and so it won't be completely useless.

It all depends what PAL Version your UK boxes use. Its the same reason as to why some TV work and some don't.
