shipping company any ideas

Hi anyone know of a good shipping company at a competitive cost to bring a container from UK, just a few weeks to go before we depart and not organised with shipping.

We used John Mason of Liverpool, although they do have bases elsewhere inthe country. Cant fault them at all, friendly professional service at a very competetive price and not even so much as a broken glass when we received our belongings at this end!!!!

 

They required 1-2 weeks notice for the move, but came out beforehand to walk around the house and advise us what to take, what is not allowed etc and of course to estimate how much space in the container we would need. Didnt get the insurance with them though, too expensive, as it is with most, we used Letton Percival Marine Insurance for that and got it for around £280, dont have their contact details though so you will need to look them up!!

 

Good luck with your decision and the move, and dont worry, you hardly have to lift a finger, they pack and shift the whole lot for you, even down to emptying your plates and cups out of the cupboards!!!!

We used Pickfords, werent the cheapest quote but did it how we wanted. Try PSS or John Mason, they came in cheaper than Pickfords (there wasn't much in it). We knocked Pickfords down to match the others, but as we live on a narrow road near a school we had them come in over two days and take half container worth back to their depot based in Birmingham (not far from us) first day and the other half the second day, for £100 more.

PSS were good and good price. Appart from the constant crys of Youll never get it all in !!!

Hi there. My advice is to avoid Crown. They were really terrible; we had so much damage to our property and breakages. And no help once we arrived in Oz.

Wish we had used Pickfords as they were cheaper!

I have heard that before.

 

John Mason were good at the UK end but we seemed to pay the price for only sending 18 boxes which should have come in Nov but ended up coming this week. No reason for delays other than " shipment delayed".

They were excellent and by far the cheapest that I could find although I didn't have a lot of stuff to bring over so not sure whether that makes a difference. I think they have branches all over the UK.

We used Excess International who sent a chap round who was really informative and up to date with customs who were A1. They came theypacked they left.

The stuff arrived with one breakage, a small picture mirror and everything else was in tact and present.

No problems with this side the contractors were polite and even came back a few days later and collected the rubbish.

Advice would be have them all over and get them pricing against each other, Then stay away from the bad ones and select the best from the rest.

Easy really and the last thing you should worry about is the shipping, worry about the little fingers checking your stuff out when it arrives...
