Washing machines etc!

Hi guys, how do you manage until your stuff arrives without your washing machines, TV etc. I understand you can rent them but are you tied to a month or six month contract? We plan to bring a brand new WM out with us, Penny

It might be worth checking out the prices here (if you haven't bought one in the UK yet) as if you buy water efficient model here then you are eligible for a $200 rebate from the government. Must admit I haven't got my money back yet but it made a front loader costing $699 only $499 (approx £280).

You can rent stuff from radio rentals, but I think you may have to sign up for a long time. Failing that there are always launderettes!

I too would recommend buying one here as we have just got our rebate a couple of weeks back. Anne it will probably arrive very soon. We also got an extra 475 dollars as whirlpool had a promotion on.

White goods are sheap enough over here.

 

As for everything else we stayed in a short term rental a bit like a holiday let which had everything we needed and they cleaned it! ;-)

Or there is OAA which has most stuff.

 

We timed our shipment as best we could to arrive once we would have moved out of the short term let. As it was we got the keys for our long term rental on the tues still had short term till the following friday and our container was deliverded on the friday. Did not need the extra week but was worth having.

If you can this is best send your stuff early and stay with family etc.
