Bathroom heat lamps

Anyone have suggestions for brand(s)/model(s)? Went to look at Bunnings and they all seem pretty similar - fella there said most have to be replaced within 5 years anyone so no point going all out, but I wonder...

Didn't know they had to be replaced. We have one in our bathroom but don't really get much benefit from it as the ceiling is high.

How many heat lamps does it have - we plan to get one with 4 for just that reason - our ensuite is smallish but it does have high ceilings? What brand do you have? They supposedly all burn themselves out after 5 years.

Make sure you get one where the heat aspect is optional - they may all be like that I don't know - the last thing you want in the summer is another source of heat beating down on you!

FYI did some more research and found the IXL brand have the best rating/recommendations...if anyone else is interested

You can get two different wattage bulbs, 250 & 375. In our rental the landlord has installed 250's which do not seem to make much difference, but the 375w bulbs are a lot warmer.

Are you ok to install these yourself? Seem to remember hearing something about needing electricians to install light fittings. Not been able to find anything out about it though.
