Hi,

I really need a new laptop. Just wondering where to buy it or where the best place ie the cheapest placeis to buy electronics ?

I want something all singing and dancing and be prepared to spend a bit to get the right one !

Yet to book my flight for March so the stop over may influence my choice.

Anyone else boughta computer going over to Oz ?

Cheers Deardos

Have been to Singapore a couple of times this year and to be honest, I didn't think the prices were particularly great (which was disappointing as I do like my gadgets!) Purely from a guarantee/warranty point of view I'd be inclined to buy once you get here. I bought my last laptop online from here - http://www.itspot.com.au Have a look and compare the prices of a couple of models with shops in the UK. Or if you wanted to go into a shop and buy one, have a look at the prices at somewhere like JBHIFI - http://www.jbhifi.com.au/ you can nearly always haggle them down in store. I guess the only problem with buying over here on arrival is the terrible exchange rate at the moment. Not a factor once you're earning over here, but using money you've just exchanged from the UK to buy here, then prices may seem expensive.

I have been to all three places funnily enough and looked like you for Laptops...

since recently coming from Singapore I have looked over here and they are very reasonable here I personally would

buy my next one here ...good luck

Mmnh, not sure about Singapore but the same model [the Samsung NP355V5C-S01xx, randomly chosen] is definitely cheaper on the Oz site mentioned in the thread above compared with the best UK price:

http://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers/samsung/15-inch-notebook-sku-88523/ - $597

http://www.reviewlaptops.co.uk/product/view/6008/Samsung-NP355V5C-S01UK.html - £494.10 (~$774)

Surprising really.
