Termites?

Anyone have to deal with termites? We found some yesterday in a wood pile out back; and although I doubt they have migrated to the house or our big gum trees, we're going to have to do some treatment so they don't:/

Our skirting boards put on a free lunch for termites, they came in uninvited under the front wall of the house. We found them when the laundry door felloff, cos they'd eaten the inside of the architrave. That's when we looked everywhere else and found the paint on the skirtings had a saggy appearence. We got termite baits put in and the company surrounded our house with subground termite baits that they now check every 3 months, didný have to use chemicals.

Yikes, was it expensive. Who did you use?

Off the top of my head it was about $1600 for all the baits and new traps round the house and each visit is about $77 every 3 months. We used allstate pest control, but we got other quotes too. The price also included sub floorboard inspection using a camera thingy, through little holes that they plug up with semi matching colour plugs. This was important for us as we have polished boards and didn't want large access squares cut into the corners of the rooms.
