My daughter (17) works 9-4, does anyone know what break she is entitled to?

hi ya my work place (renault) has 15min smoke'o in morning and hour lunch 12-1pm....i would say your daughter would be the same in her work place....

depends where she works, each industry has its own award that governs breaks etc. Pretty much though ......

 

> 4hours = 15 mins break

> 5 hours = meal break usually 1/2 hr

Not sure if different depending on age, but place where I work I do 5 hours and apparently that's the maximum you are allowed to do without having to have a lunch break. Generally breaks are not paid breaks.

haha i do 6 - 6.5 hrs then get 1.5/2 hrs break then back for 4 hrs...

hospitality sucks......cant wait to get out of it

She'll get 30 mins. More if work are generous, but most arent!

10 mins smokeo depending on the award, this is paid and 1/2 hour lunch unpaid, but some places allow 1hr, it depends again on the award

It will depend on the industry and the award that is tied to, normally a break must be taken of no less that 30 minutes after 5 hours.

To answer more specific i would need to know the Industry and then i can interpret the Award.

It's whatever the boss says - and if you complain, or try to stir up trouble it's likely you'll be sacked for something completely unrelated!
