Teaching advice

Hi all,

 

I am a secondary science teacher, I’m moving to Adelaide in September with my partner and I’m starting to apply for teaching reg in oz at the moment... I am aware that i have to complete 2 courses before i can register... Can i still send off all my paper work before i arrive in Adelaide, then finish the process when i get there by completing the courses?

Once i arrive how do i go about getting a job?? Any advice would be appreciated.

Mandatory notification - child protection and a first aid course (senior first aider). You will need to the Mandatory one here but not sure about the first aid. You maybe able to do an equivalent in the UK but it may not be recognised here as there are bound to be some differences.

 

I'd do all the paper work that you can before you come, I did all mine here and I think from start to finish it was four weeks.

 

Use the search facility on threads relating to teaching and jobs etc, been a few over the las couple of years. Science is in demand and if you can teach A-level in the UK, very useful for the equivalent here.

Hi,

As Cooler says you need Mandatory notification, you can book from UK - use google for course providers a 7 hour course( 1 day) approx will cost about 150 dollars. This needs to be updated every 3 years- schools are able to do this on site themselves. The First Aid is BELS- Basic Emergency Life Saving , again about 100 or so dollars for a day again google St John Ambulance for course dates etc. Registration times can be a bit hit & miss. Make sure you have all docs with you, including an academic transcript . PM me and I can advise further.
