Midwife wants job

Hi

We are about to put our family home in Liverpool up for sale and move to Adelaide. I am a midwife and presently working in Manchester (St Marys) and bank in Liverpool Womens Hospital. I have visited Adelaide in 2005 when I was a student and observed practice in Adelaide Womens and Childrens. I am married and we have 3 kids 14, 11, 7 who are interested in going to Adelaide for great lifestyle but reluctant to leave family behind. I am looking for e-mail addresses of potential employers, I would like to have a job to start on arrival in Adelaide, any midwifery post considered. If anyone wants to mail us any information on areas to live in/avoid, schools that would be great as well.

Hope to see you all soon.

Not sure what hours etc you'll be looking for but one option could be agency work? there are a number of nursing agencies here in SA, i work for NASANSB as and when i choose, if im not mistaken they pay a slightly higher rate than other agencies and i know they do employ midwives.

There web address is : http://www.nursingagency.com.au/index.html

Best of luck

Thanks Maria, will look that website up. I have contacted Adelaide Womens and Childrens Hospital and they are interested. I visited WCH in 2005 and enjoyed the size and feel of it. My master plan is to start in WCH and try and work on some mental health qualifications and head to a specialist unit that is for postnatal parents. I don't have a nursing qualificiation, direct entry midwife so i will probably have to get some nursing education under my belt when i get there.

Hi there

I am a midwife and have just received my skills assessment back so can now go back to work  much to my husbands pleasure. I intend to go on the casual pool at the RAH and also at Flinders. I am going to see NASA next week to get things up and running with them. NASA will offer you a few shifts as supernumerary initially whilst you find your feet. I have a friend who works at the RAH and she enjoys it! There is no problem with you working as a direct entry midwife here - I am dual qualified but have only had my midwifery qualifications assessed by the NBSA as the School of Nursing where I trained has lost my transcripts and requesting them from the NMC was like pulling teeth - waited 3 months and still no transcripst so I am on the register as a midwife (not a nurse). Its probably for the best really as its 12 years since I have done any nursing so I probably would have been a liability:goofy:

Good Luck

Lindsey

I am the main applicant so bank work is no good for me. I am going to Adelaide Womens and Childrens Hospital, only because I done my elective there in 2005 and enjoyed it. Adelaides first direct entry midwives were just qualifying then. There is an area in WCH that I loved and hope to return to in the future but need a mental health qualification, I have some experience from where I am working now but as with everything in Adelaide need the bit of paper that says I can do it. I had no problem with my transcript but lost my birth certificate, have found it again. Hoping to get the NBSA bit underway then go for the ANMC. We are putting our house up for sale soon, just waiting for one more estate agent to visit next week. If we sell quickly we are going to rent.
