Flinders medical centre are looking for volunteers and so are the red cross and the country fire service.

There is a large youth and volunteer sector in Adelaide ... most councils for example have officers in both fields who will have a qualification in one or other of those disciplines. The state government is also a big employer of youth workers as are major charities, many of whom are 'sub contracted' by the state to do that type of community work that councils in the UK tend to do.

Have a look on www.seek.com and search using keywords such as 'youth', 'community', and/or 'volunteer' and you should find quite a range.

I think lots of councils have Youth Development Officers now - have come across a few very good ones through both work and in helping my son's band get gigs. Have a look at things like http://www.carclew.com.au/ and on the individual council websites.

Thanks everyone I'm a community worker and my husband is a youth worker and we're keen to get a feel for the employment prospects so that's great!
