Hi Hubby is a plumber. He's done the vetasses in London and we know he has to retrain to Aussie standards once we land. This is a way to hit the ground running apparently. Any advice? I see your a Roofer so i would have thought you'd know what was happening? these courses are for Plumbers and Electricians.

Hi,

Hubby is Electrician and has done gap training with Downunder Tradies and He would not recommend him to anybody coming to Adelaide. My hubby had a lot of hassle from his training qualification from them as they are not well known over here. Although the certificate itself is from CIT(Canberra Institute of Technology). They specialised in sending people off to Mines in Perth, Queensland and everywhere except SA. They are not very organise and they don't have agents here in SA to help you. You better off going to Peer and doing long distance training then take the test when you get here. It will take a while to get your license so make sure you have enough money to get you going while you wait for it and look for jobs, not unless you got employer already. If you have any more questions, pm me. Good luck.

Hi

did not have to do any additional training to experience that I had. I went through Silver Trowel assessments but did it in Perth as was cheaper and did not have any work at the time in roofing in UK. This was three years ago, different trade and things change in that time. Am just in process of trying to upgrade my prior learning on tin roofs to here. They take all this into consideration and will advise what else you need. There are loads of different ones on the net, just try skills and prior learning recognition
