Living in SA but working elsewhere?

Been offered a position working offshore out of Perth, Western Australia. Trouble is we are tied to SA for our immigration purposes and we really want to live there.

The job on offer is 200k pa, working 5 weeks aways and being home for 5 weeks. Company will pay flights to and fro.

Question is can I still fulfil my visa commitments to SA if I take this position and live in SA? Oh wifey will be working part time in SA to pass the time and help her socialise and integrate (however she is not the main applicant).

Afaik it's a moral obligation not a legal one. While not everyone may agree with this morally, if it is an option you wish to consider then do so. Nothing to stop you looking for work nearer Adelaide once you are there either.

Some people go elsewhere after state sponsorship because they can't find work or realise they would rather be elsewhere.

There are some threads on this subject on here and over on PIO also.

I would think the SA government would be pretty pleased to have you, even if You would be working in WA. After all, you won't appear as unemployed but you will be bringing money in to SA as this is where your family will be.

iMO that is way better to taking SA sponsorship but then living and working in another state.

I'm glad that you are looking forward to living in our lovely SA
