Oh well not a single reply lol.

I am here in Adelaide until Friday morning, having been here a month, my job hunting has proved somewhat underwhelming....I was told the best way into work was to get out here as with my experience I should have no trouble finding work and getting sponsorship which would be my only way in.

Even more convinced now that it's not what you know but who you know.

For anyone who knows of any positions in their places of work suited to me (who could possibly sponsor) please let me know, basically I have 11 years experience as:

Team Leader

Production shift manager

Shift foreman

QC supervisor

Working in various industries.

Thanks in advance everyone :)

Maybe you'd have more luck if you specified what industries you have experience working in? Surely you must specialise in only 1 or 2 types of business if you were able to gain years of experience as a supervisor?

Hi Northern Mick,

I've worked in the glass industry, the plastics industry, fibreglass industry, and paper/moulding industry, and did a stint as a web designer many moons ago. The point is though that my skills as a Production manager/Team leader are transferrable to virtually any production/manufacturing scenario.

My last position is in a leading pulp moulding facility in the uk.

Thanks for the reply :)

No worries, I'd concentrate on those areas of manufacturing though.

Hi Donna,

I've actually got more than 11 years experience, as I used to be a Quality manager before I started my current job 11 years ago, and before that I was a furnace manager :)

I have considered another state and that may be my only option as I'm struggling to find sponsorship in SA, the one reason I was looking at SA is that my sister lives here, plus now I've visited Adelaide I love it more than I thought I would...certain things I don't like such as Aussie drivers ha ha :)

I have to look at sponsorship as I don't have enough points to get my own visa....this may possibly change after July....my ex was a nurse and she was going to get the visa but then decided not to :(

one thing they might be querying is your number of positions, think i can count 6 jobs you've been in and in those a total of 11 years, am i correct? Seems alot of managing in a short time at each place.

Team Leader

Production shift manager

Shift foreman

QC supervisor

quality manager

furnace manager

Hi,

The simplest answer is no, I've had roughly 6 jobs in 25+ years....my current job I've been in for 11+ years, usually the only reason I find myself in another job is usually down to factory closure/redundancy etc....so quite a stable employee lol

:)
