I'm looking for some advice on my Husbands behalf. His background is electrical installation spanning 10 years and more recently solar installation. Most of his roles have been officially in a Trade Assistant capacity, however due to his knowledge and experience he tends to work well beyond this.He would really like to become qualified and will be discussing this with his current employer.I understand that an adult apprenticeship might be an option but cannot find a great deal of info on these, also we would consider going down the individual study route. Can anyone point me in the direction of some good websites or share some info/advice on what would be most appropriate route to qualify .

thanks!

If he can get proof of work as an electrician then he should try contacting TRA and getting a skills assessment.

If successful then go to PEER on port road and sit his AS3000 take both to OCBA in the city and apply for a licence.

That's the way as long as he can prove his skills to TRA.

Will also have to prove he is qualified to level 3 as well. TRA assess skills and qualifications together.

Hi Hannah, all above good advice, but the first thing I would do is contact, Skills recognition services, 55 Currie Street, SA5000, 1800 658887. They should be able to advise you on exactly what to do. Don't get tangled up applying to TRA without advice. This applies to all trades.
