Cert 3 aged care

Hi

Just looking for some recommendations or advice if poss!

Having been in Adelaide now for a year and had a most lovely year off from working, i really do need to get down and start working again:shocked:

In the UK i worked in the NHS for 14 years mostly in an orthopaedic trauma ward as a health care assistant and loved it, although have done medical and surgical too. Unfortunately here i do not think that this is possible so have decided to do my cert 3 in aged care to start with. Can anyone give me any info on where is best to do this? Or any other contacts for good agencies or employers? I would prefer to work in the community but would consider nursing homes, although my ideal is a hospital. How different are NH here compared to the UK?

Eventually i would like to do the diploma for enrolled nursing maybe even degree, but need to do this first as only have experience and not quals. Also is the first aid/manual handling included or do i have to source this separately?

Thanks for reading and any help given!

Hi,

If you live in the South, I would try Wade Training on Main South Road, Morphett Vale.

Its a 6 week course and 2 weeks on a placement. Have no idea of the costs though.

Thanks
