Fruit Picking Jobs

There's a government harvest website with a lot of info - http://jobsearch.gov.au/harvesttrail/

A lot of fruit picking jobs are organised by 'working hostels/backpackers' so if you google such accommodation in the area you're looking for, then you may get more info.

This blog also has some handy hints - http://thelittlebackpacker.com/2013/03/11/top-tips-for-fruit-picking-in-australia/

You could also search casual/backpacker jobs on Gumtree.

Finally, I know the organisation who organises casual workers for wine grape picking is MADEC - http://www.madec.edu.au/employment/harvest-labour-services/latest-information/

Good luck!

I've heard that harvest work is easy to get into but all the ads I've seen all want previous experience. Not sure how you're expected to get experience if you can't get through the door!

No picking work will want experience - only if its tractors (which most grape picking is now as its done by machine in the majority of vineyards, not hand). So its either not hand picking, ie not casual labour/backerpackers type work or it just doesn't exist anyway.

MADEC is your best bet tbh imho - gumtree is full of rip off merchants who won't pay you at the end of the day (or pay way way under union rates, thereby shafting both you and everyone else who comes along after you, and your second year visa won't stand up to being signed off by them). They got us work with no experience at all a couple of times pretty much instantly.
