Plastering in Adelaide

Just wondering if anybody can help us, we're looking to emigrate to Adelaide next year and we're trying to find out if there's much call for plasterers over there? Also does anybody know what sort of wages can be expected? Thanks

They generally float joints are far as I know, and everything is plasterboard. Still I'm sure there must be work around.

Most houses in Oz are dry-lined and taped, solid plastering is more like rendering as we know it.

There is an upturn in housing development at present with predictions for that to continue, so good signs there. But as had been said many times on this forum if your hungry for work you will find it, it may not be easy or quick or you could fall lucky at first attempt, but the 1st may not be the ideal but it gets you in there!

Most houses that go up now are dry lined they only tape and flush the joints there is no skimming the walls and ceilings . Sorry to say there is no gypsum based materials hear no browning board finish etc its back to the dark ages sand cement lime and white set . A lot of the plasters that come over have went on to do the cement rendering here and texture coating. There is a few plasters on here hope they can help you more if your old school you should be ok.
