JUST SPOKE TO IAN HARPER. NOT GOOD NEWS. MY OTHER HALFS JOB IS NOT QUITE ON THE LIST. MAY BE SOON. COULD GO ON A STUDENT VISA TO RE TRAIN FOR 2 YEARS, BUT MY HUBBY LOVES HIS JOB. HE HAS OVER 12 YEARS EXPERIANCE ( NO QUALIFICATIONS) IS ONLY ONE OF A HANDFULL OF PEOPLE IN THE UK WHO DO THIS.

LOOKS LIKE THE DREAM IS OVER BEFORE IT HAS EVEN STARTED. WAS SO EXCITED THAT I HAD FINALLY TALKED HIM INTO MAKING THE MOVE. LOOKS LIKE WE WILL HAVE TO STAY PUT FOR NOW WITH THE 11 YEAR OLD DRUG DEALERS IN THE LOCAL SCHOOLS AND PRE TEENAGE HOOLIGANS RULING THE LOCAL STREETS. ANY WONDER WHY I WANTED TO GO. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYBODY WHO IS APPLYING OR GETTING READY TO SET SAIL FOR A NEW LIFE. YOU NEVER KNOW I MAY SEE YOU SOON WHEN HIS JOB IS ON THE LIST.

:swoon::mad::arghh:

thats sad news.

what about looking for an employer sponsorship! if his job is specialised then there might be a company over there willing to sponsor him.

worth a try, start sending emails to all companies covering his skill.

Baz.

I'm with Baz. Just because his job isn't 'on the list' doesn't mean to say his skills aren't needed. Get on google and find prospective employers and get emailing.

Hi Shelly32,

If your OH is a gardener you should try Perth first, I'm an engineer and picked up LOADS of turf laying jobs ??? beats me!! "hi I'm an electrician" ..."great you can lay turf for me" ??...... ozzies!

hard work but the first step is the biggest, I also did turf laying in Sydney, they all seemed over worked and understaffed, and all the time people were asking for private jobs!!! typical as I was just a gofer who needed the money, if (unlike me and gardens)your husband knows what he's doing it's there for the taking, if you live in another state first at least your there, after 2 years you can move and live where you like!

Sorry to hear it isn't as simple as you first thought, but its best to be realistic, I would not give up hope though, do continue to check out other avenues as NZ maybe one option. I am a little out of touch with jobs in demand etc but they are updated, so hang in there.

Regards

Angela

Sorry to hear the news guys - have you spoken to an Agent yet? I seem to remember someone mentioning that GoMatilda give you a free 15 minute chat, to assess suitability - might be worth a bash? Surely he'd qualify as Tradesperson and Related Workers (nec) - 4999-79??

My agent managed to get us in when IT went out the window - I'm a Manager...apparently. :biglaugh:

Don't give up.

My hubbys job wasn't on the list but mine was - so I went back to work full time for a year. In that time we'd turned 40 and lost points so sa was our only option on a 495 visa.

Best thing that happenend to us. If we had had permanent residency in all honesty Adelaide would have been low on our list of places to settle. However we love it here and have no plans to leave once we get pr.

Irony is I can't get a job for love nor money but hubby is turning down jobs left right and centre!

Everything is meant to be - don't give up.

As for 11 year old drug dealers - I know you're not kidding!!

Unfortunately Nottm is not the place it used to be when I was a kid.
