Recruitment Agencies

Hi all,

 

I am an AAT qualified Finance Officer with experience working for the government and my husband is an FLT driver. Does anyone know of any recruitment agencies that recruit from overseas? We want to look for a job before we arrive in Adelaide but the recruitment agencies I have contacted have told me we can only apply for jobs once we have arrived.

 

We are looking to move to the Adelaide Hills/Mount Barker area but are willing to travel to the CBD to work.

Can't help with recruitment agencies but I can tell you no one knows what the AAT is here. When you apply for jobs I would mention it and say that it is the equivalent to an Australia diploma in accounting but don't expect much. I was lucky because my boss is from the UK and knew about the AAT but others won't. You might need to convert it to a diploma using recognition of prior learning at Tafe or something. I haven't as I never quite finished mine (did all the exams but didn't get the project finished before moving and never quite got round to it here).

Your husbands FLT licence may not be recognised in Adelaide, I would suggest looking into this, you need to make it as easy as you can for a recruiter to pick you, without the confusion of UK qualifications that often mean nothing to them. Also look on seek.com.au for the employer requirements for FL work as you may require more than one licence. A lot of the work will be in the Northern suburbs so take this into consideration as well, because if you are living in the Hills employers may think you are located too far away for the job.

I'm ACCA qualified and recently moved to SA, and I'm looking into doing a short online course for 'accounting and finance work skills for migrants and international degree holders'. Hopefully it will get me used to the Oz terminology and help with job prospects. Thought it might be useful. Here's the link:

You can use Seek and Hays to apply for jobs before you get here, although I was told by Hays recruitment that 'It can be difficult to assist overseas candidates without Australian tax experience' before I arrived here.
