Casual workers, youth unemployment and getting a mortgage!

Article in the paper today which may be of interest. Australia has a strong casual work culture, which suits some people, but obviously not everyone. People coming from the UK perhaps need to think if they would be happy to work in a casual capacity (often for some time) if they were to emigrate. If you have been used to having a secure fulltime permanent job in the UK, with plenty of paid sick leave, annual leave, public holidays and the security of set working hours each week, working as a casual can take some adjusting for some people. It can also make it difficult to obtain finance for housing/car loans as mentioned below.
