Motor trade skills

Hi everyone, I have many different skills within the motor trade, is there much call for it in Adelaide ? I hope so

 

I have been told they are car mad, which is a good thing i suppose.

 

I would love to hear of any jobs going or experiences of others in the same or similar trades.

well not quite motor mad, Hamps...but all the barmey people do seem to be out there driving motor cars...

 

do you have mech, or retail skills, or both

 

-if the latter .......it's worth thinking outside the box and looking at, say, Fleet Management etc etc (or agricultural / mining maintenance if you can get the diesel tickets)

 

You are more likely to get your toe in the door if you are prepared to travel....have you considered Fly in Fly out contracts?

I do have mechanical skills yes, but i am mainly a body and customisation guy, I have specialised in restoration of old cars etc.

 

It was far to stressful running a restoration shop in the uk so I shut shop and went into hydrographics.

Not sure if it's "a thing" in Oz? well it wasn't here about 5 years ago but it is now! still not as big as it is in the states though.

 

Anyway back to my skills, yeh I am more hands on rather than management or office based tbh.

 

I have done fabrication and welding, crash repair, body repair, spraying, detailing, auto electrics, customisation, engine building and general mechanical work to name a few.

There's a big Harley/ biking community that would love the dipping thing. Have seen it in the States, most recently at a Corvette meet up in Florida. Not so much here but it could catch on quick.
