A Nurse question

Hi all I'm new to this I'm currently applying for a spouse visa as OH is desperate to go home.I'm currently a nurse in haemodialysis and was wondering is there plenty of jobs available in Adelaide and if I decided to do agency work does anyone have any idea what the pay scales are like and is there plenty of work.Thanks any advice would be appreciated.

If you are a nurse you should have no problems. How long have you been qualified???

 

Pay scale is similar to here. Tracey (my other half and staff nurse) has already secured a job at W&C and will gross more than she does here in the UK.

Hiya, as Pete said the pay scale seems to be similar to here. What I did was email the HR departments my CV and they all got back to be quickly with offers of interviews. Have a look online at hospitals and get emailing those CV's. There are a few nurses on her that do agency so they will be able to help on that score.

Hi I am a midwife and my hubby is a nurse. I have been working agency with NASANSB which seems to have the monopoly with lots of the hospitals. My hubby has a job at Wakefield Hospital (private). He loves it, but also does agency work with both ASEPS and Clinical Nurse specialists - He works ICU/HDU

The rate of pay for nurses here is very good and we can manage to live quite nicely on Andys wage alone - he is a RN1 level 8. I am a RN on the top level which I think is either 9 or 10. The money for agency is excellent - I tend to work nights and weekends but here but my hourly rates are more than double and sometimes triple what I used to be paid per hour in the UK (I was a band 6). Obviously you dont have the benfits of sick pay or holiday pay, but the money is silly really. I have just got a job though ( applied for and was offered 3 - nurses are lucky in that respectI like the feeling of belonging that I didn't get from Agency work- I never worked consecutive nights anywhere.

Hi

I have been in Adelaide for a month only. Prior to coming out sent CV off to lots of HR departments. Had several informal chats with managers over the phone prior to coming. They were really keen to employ any nurses even though i don't want to work at the moment.

I have been a clinical nurse specialist for almost 5 years. These sort of jobs are a bit rare here but any ICU type experience will be most welcomed as well as any specialist knowledge.

Good luck with the job hunt but i am sure you will have no problems.

Hi, I have recently started work at the RAH and have found my wages to be a little better than the Uk but there is not much in it. Although as I work at a public hospital I get a generous salary sacrafice allowance as well. I have a copy of the public sector pay scale for nurses so PM me how long you have been qualfied and I will tell you your exact salary.

Thanks for all the replies.I have been qualified for 10years now (This makes me feel old:huh:).I would ideally like to work part time if possible as I have a 4 year old .I'm not looking forward to leaving my parents behind but I know this is the right thing to do for my family.

Hi Kris, I too have a job at the RAH in orthopaedic trauma which I start in Oct this year. I would love any info you have about pay and salary sacrifice. Do you like it at the RAH.?

My husband is transfering to SAPOL and starts in Sept. We are excited yet scared at the same time.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
