There are loads more agencies out there though.

Depends what line of IT you're in and whether you're looking for permanent or contract work.

 

The contracting market seems to fluctuate on a regular basis - at the moment there's not a great deal of new positions, but 2 months ago there were loads.

My husband works in IT and had 3 jobs offers within 2 weeks of arriving. Again, I echo what someone else said about it depending on type of job and what experience you have, but my husband also said they need more people at their workplace and can't find them, so if you have good skills and experience you are bound to find something.

Yes there is work.... but as others have said, depends upon your skillset.

 

I managed to get a job a week before I arrived, but it was not easy.

 

You just have to get your CV out to as many companies/agencies as you can.

 

Most agencies won't want to put you forward until you arrive, so you have to push them a bit.

 

I set-up and IP telephone, so I had no call costs to Adelaide. I then had many late nights making calls following up applications/CV's.

There were only 4 IT jobs in the paper this Saturday and last Saturday there were 6 but the IT section had been moved to the back of the paper, which is not a good sign. When I arrived in April 2007 there seemed a lot more IT jobs advertised than now. I got a job within a week of arriving.

 

A lot of IT work seems to be through agencies and contract, which is a pain as I am not a big fan of agencies and how they work.

Hi,

 

Does anyone have a list of agencies that specialise in IT contracting or permanent based in Adelaide?

I specialise in IT Security but from what ive seen so far there doesnt seem to be much demand so any further info would be gratefully received.

We are still in the early stages of the application, appointed agent and my wife has been approved by Vettassess (unfortunately, as i dont have a degree i would need 8 years experience to qualify myself and at this time i only have 6!). So it will be a while until we make the move but it would be great to start researching oportunities now.

m&mG there are many agencies that deal in IT positions. Best to have a look on seek.com.au for IT roles and you will find the agencies there.
