Background

I am 45 and my wife is a little older. I am a qualified psychiatric nurse whose registration has expired and we've been living in Bulgaria for the last 4 years. We now plan to immigrate to Adelaide.

The Plan

Attend a "return to Practice" course in the UK in April for three months.

Register with NMC

Register with NBSA

Start sending C.V. off to all and sundry.

Look for an employer in Adelaide who will sponsor us under RSMS (119).

Get offered a job.

Go through the immigration process; police and health checks etc.

Move to Adelaide in about a years time.....

Any thoughts, feedback or job offers would be most welcome, but what we're really looking for is advice and suggestions on how best to proceed

Thanks

Simon

i would definetly consult a migration agent as your not practising at the moment there may be clauses in certain visas that you have to be doing the job your applying for a visa for the past x number of years. I may be wrong though. Obviously until youve got your nursing registration at least in the uk most employers wouldnt consider you. I think you may need to increase the time too as id say it may take longer than 12 months.

There are agencies in the uk which can help you find work here in adleaide, but my first stop would be a consultation with an agent most offer free info sessions. we used go matilda who were great.

Hi Clare,

I can see this is going to be v. hard work on our own, especially considering our age. We've been looking at Go Matilda, as you recommended. Do you mind if I ask, approximately how much could we expect to pay an agent to make all this happen?

Thanks

Simon
