On the other side, one thing I noticed in my recent 18-months stint back in the UK was how many spiders and flies get into the house. Now how about fly screens and doors for the UK to make your first million?
If global warming could be persuaded to get a move on, maybe the next million could come from putting split system aircon in the sitting rooms of the UK.
Drat, I should have kept these ideas to myself!
Finally, windbreaks for Adelaide beaches would surely sell like hot cakes. How many 27 degree spring-summer days are spoiled by the breeze blowing sand in your face and sandwiches!
double glazed units are starting to be used . However i feel the locals need some education on the benefits before they will accept the system. Also the replacement market would be limited because of the mentality of the Australians. They dont like spending money on home improvements. Barbies yes but windows ..mmmmm. i see a problem.
The thing to be watching out for (and I reckon it would be a very good business move to be into double glazing in Australia) is sustainable development. DH's Auntie is moving into a house being built as part of a sort of Gvt monitored experiment or whatever - you know, solar panels, energy efficient houses, own water supply (somehow) for the 'village'. And they are apparently having double glazed windows (not sure what kind of frames agree they don't have to be uPVC) because they keep the cold out in the winter and warm out in the summer. More efficient than single pane glass. interesting someone already has had experience of use of double glazing in that way.
There are a lot of things that have been 'forgotten' about building houses to cope with the heat since the advent of aircon. Now they seem to be making a slow comeback. The old houses tend to be the coolest, the newer cheaper builds not so cool without the aircon.

I dont think the whole manufacturing and installation process for every possible scenario in the window industry is something that is possible to write down . if you feel able too , fire away. Maybe you can enlighten me on plastering. I have limited knowledge of that trade.
