Kindy, play/saftey...

Hi,

Going through some threads and came across this quote ;Mind you, I think here in Aus we wrap kids up in less cotton wool than they do in the UK. I remember reading posts on here from people horrified at their kids being given real nails and bits of wood and hammers to play with at kindy, rather than the plastic "Early Learning" type things!!

What are the kids given real nails, hammers and bits of wood - yes and bottle tops to nail onto them!

At pre school age?! What else do they do there then? Bit confused at how this is safe...

My son was certainly nailing at the age of 4 - LOl - Other than that there wasnt much difference to kindy in the UK.

Due to the skilled labour shortage over here we are now sending kids down the mines at 6 years old too, just like the good old days. Better enjoy hammering those nails at kindy while they can.....

All this carpentry work going on at Kindy, now you would have thought after many years of experience some of these chippies would know what they are doing...!
