Securing a school place

Hi all,

We've booked our flights and will be arriving in May - just in time for winter!

We are keen to get our 6-year-old daughter into a school as early as possible but will initially be in a short-term rental whilst we await our possessions, before looking for a long-term rental.

Does anyone know whether we can get a school place whilst still in our initial short-term rental? Do schools even need to be informed that it's only a temporary address?

Any hints, tips or tricks will be much appreciated.

Thanks all for your comments and advice. It's re-assuring to know that we can secure a school place earlier than we thought. Just the small matter of finding somewhere to live now...

Hi Dazzlin, we are in that position to, we arrive 24th April and have to get our 6 year old son into school.

We have contacted a school in a area we were looking at leaving but haven't heard anything yet.

Best thing to do IMO, is wait till you get here. Your kids are still young so there really isnt any real hurry. Until you arrive and get a feel of where you want to be, and trust me, opionions change from what you may have read on the net and when you actually see the area/schools etc.

Schools are zoned, but you will find primary schools more accommodating if they have places. High schools tend to be alot more stricter with zoning.
