I don't really know Salisbury, but my OH works in Mawson Lakes and we looked at a few suburbs up that way. Golden grove is quite nice and the schools there have a good reputation. We seriously considered Banksia Park as a suburb because the schools there look good, it's very green and it's close to my sister in law who lives in Fairview Park. In the end I decided that it was too far out from the city where I'm most likely to get work. It's also quite hilly round that way but this means if you get the right location you can get some lovely views. I'd agree with Diane that many if the North East suburbs would be suitable locations for commuting. We considered Athelstone, which is a lovely area with a good primary school, but it's in the zone for a senior school we did not want our kids going to and we can't afford to pay for them to go private. We ruled Mawson Lakes out for a similar reason, but also because it's all a bit new there for me, but it might be worth you having a look if you can stretch to the fees for private school.
