We have my sons birthday coming up next week and I struggled knowing what to do. Here are some ideas for Adelaide. Please feel free to add to it

 

 

Stratco City Beach, Cnr Pirie & Frome St

IF the thought of looking after a bunch of kids at the beach makes you want to rock back and forth, head to the City Beach.

Fully enclosed, this sandy pocket of the city is perfect for birthday boys and girls aged eight to 17.

Party packages include barbecue sausages, use of the kiosk, speakers for blasting music and a variety of balls, bats, buckets and spades.

THREE words: Dinosaur. Chicken. Nuggets.

Yes, the museum cafe knows how to throw a pretty cool shindig for little folk, which is fun as well as educational.

It’s $16 per child and that includes cake service, drinks and party food like nachos, pizzas and the aforementioned nuggets.

Add-on items for the parents, such as Italian pastries and salt and pepper squid, start at $5.

HERE is a special birthday treat — hire out a cinema. Mercury Cinema on Morphett St has a 38 seater cinema that can be hired out for private parties. It’s $300 for three hours and the deal includes access to the dedicated foyer space.

Adelaide Zoo, Frome Rd

THE zoo has a few options for little party animals aged four to 14. There’s the Panda Picnic Party, which includes food, drinks and a zoo activity trail map, or the Party Animal package, a fully-catered party option which includes an undercover function area and party host.

Kids also get to feed some of the animals at the Children’s Zoo.

CHILDREN will be jumping for joy when they get invited a birthday party at Bounce, Marleston.

The Pretty in Pink and Space Rocket rooms are popular among the little ones, aged one to 10 years, and can be hired for $170 for three hours.

But if you want to throw a more casual birthday party, you simply pay admission for each child, which is $9.50 for children aged three and over, $6.50 for children 1-3 years, and $2 for children under one.

 

 

 

Aquadome, 1 Crockerton Road, Elizabeth

THE Adelaide Aquadome in Elizabeth is the perfect place to plan your child’s next pool party. The pool offers a catered package for 12 children for $250, which includes party invitations, pool access wristbands, a designated sitting area for two hours, tableware, four complimentary swim passes for the family and a host who will conduct water games.

It also includes party food. Or pay $150 for 12 children, including party invitations, wristbands, and a two-hour table reservation. The water slides are available all day for children over five years and more than 110cm tall.

 

 

 

 

Paintball Park, 59 Womma Road, Elizabeth West

PAINTBALL Park has one Speedball Field with concrete barricades, and two Bush Fields with bunkers, barricades, sand bags and trenches.

Both fields challenge players’ abilities to hide, dodge and ambush their opponents using semiautomatic paintball guns which fire up to 11 balls per second.

Safety masks and overalls are available for hire, and chest protectors for females and children are free. It costs $35 per person.

A MAXIMUM of two parties are held at any one time at this bowling alley, with a maximum of four children to one lane.

Parties are available seven days a week, and cater from eight to 20 children. There are two party package to choose from and they each include bowling, food, birthday cake and tokens to play arcade games.

Children win prizes if they get a strike. There is also laser tag games, with special vests and equipment.

 

 

 

 

Miss Fairy — The Fairy Bay, Partridge St, Glenelg, but will fly anywhere throughout the south

MISS Fairy will happily fly all over the southern suburbs to create a magical party. Or, if your child would prefer, she can send an enchanting princess, superhero or pirate to entertain young guests.

The mobile parties include musical games, fairy ballet, a treasure hunt, a wishing ceremony, interactive story time and more.

CHILDREN can get creative at this craft party. Co-owner Karen Roberts says Splodge is a hands-on venue that will stimulate children’s sensory and craft skills.

The venue has a painting wall, chalk wall and other craft activities that take children back to the basics of making a mess and being hands on.

There is also musical games, pass the parcel, party bags and magnetic invitations. All smocks, craft, messy fun and supervision is provided. A 90 minute party is $250 for 10 kids.

 

 

 

 

Play ‘n’ Fun, Beach Rd, Christies Beach:

THIS play cafe has three party rooms, and a table can be reserved in the cafe for parents to sit back and enjoy a stressless cuppa.

Catering is looked after with standard or healthy food options. Hosts can amuse the children with themed 90 minute parties, including the old favourites pirates, princesses, superheroes or children’s book characters.

The soft play area is designed for toddlers aged 0 to 4, while the multi-level larger play structure is for children aged up to 12. From ball pits and slides to a flying fox, you name it, this play cafe has it. Parties start at $160 for 10 children.

In the UK we use to invite everyone in the class then no one felt left out. We have told him 10 max, we are having a pizza/pool party here first then laser tag.

I did that with my wedding. Invited everyone I worked with figuring only those who I like would turn up anyway. It worked. :-)

It seems the going rate these days is $25 per child, it's the same up here as well.

 

My daughter catered for my grandsons party last year and said "never again"! $25 per child is a small price to pay for not having to arrange anything, clear up and stress out!

My youngest wants to go ice skating at the IceArenA at Thebarton. Not sure it will be an organised party but we might take him and invite a few friends. We already have a lot on that weekend and can't face the idea of a big party as well.
