Schools and Colleges

Hi can anyone point us in the right direction for schools/colleges for our two girls (12 and 16). Our eldest has just completed her GCSE exams and is looking to study psychology and philosophy in high school / college but despite trawling through various web sites including decs we are no wiser . We are on a recce visit to Adelaide 4 July and would like to visit some prospective schools/colleges . Any help would be greatly appreciated .

There are hundreds of schools in Adelaide so it will depend on what area you are looking at when you arrive. When you are on your reccie it would be a good idea to go and visit some to get an idea of what they are like.

 

Lots have websites too and you will find some links here to have a look through to get an idea - http://www.adelaidebound.com/schools.html

 

Also the school years work slightly differently here. My daughter is only little so cannot help out much on this but there are plenty over here that can help when they wake up and get on their pc's.

We are in the south of the city. From our experience the schools are only to happy to meet you so take the chance to have a good look at the schools while having a look at the suburbs.

At the moment we are looking into private education for our son who is four.

I've been told Woodcroft is one of the best in S.A. It works out about $4,000 a year.

There are quite a few in Hallett Cove some come with very good reviews but like it was said earlier, you are best to find out where you'll be living first and go from there.

school term dates term 3 starts 23/7 ends 28/9 term 4 starts 15/10 ends 14/12 .

try looking at the tafe for post school education

All I can say is don't discount the private schools. Many of them do not cost much more than the public schools, which also have charges for certain items, and sometimes offer a wider range of choices. In both cases yuo will have to pay for text books and stationary, so it will cost you a bit more than in UK.
