  1. Hi, Can anyone recommend a chiropractor in the eastern suburbs, near to magill if possible. Thanks
  2. Hi, On a 489 visa which expires in dec 2016. Doing my first Aus Tax return and totally confused on whether I'm considered temporary resident or not, when it comes to the declaration of a small amount of UK income - BS interest. in ato gov related site : https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/i...-introduction/ It would appear that as I'm living and working in Adelaide fulltime then I'm considered a resident for tax purposes But it then goes onto state If you're an Australian resident for tax purposes: You generally have to declare all income you earned both in Australia and internationally on your tax return. However, if you have a temporary visa you're a temporary resident – this means most of your foreign income is not taxed in Australia and you don't declare it on your Australian tax return. You only declare income you derive in Australia, plus any income you earn from employment performed overseas for short periods while you are a temporary resident of Australia. The Migration Act provides that a temporary visa is a visa to travel to and remain in Australia: during a specified period until a specified event happens while the holder has a specified status. The 489 is for a specific 4 year period so seems to put me in the temporary visa category which i take as meaning I don't have to declare UK income, but can't find it detailed anywhere, to confirm Any 489 visa holders out there who have dealt with this ? Cheers Laura

  8. Hi, Just arrived in Adelaide and will probably look to settle on the eastern side of the city, so considering the following high schools Glenunga Norwood Morialta Marryativille If anyone has experiences good or bad on these schools they could share that would be really appreciated. Thanks Tim & Laura
  9. Hi Just arrived in Adelaide and now looking to get schools sorted for kids Charlie 14, Elizabeth 11, Neve 8 Understand that places in schools is all about living in the zone area's, but I'm finding it really tough to get an idea on how well a school performs, in terms of the final year 12 results. Does anyone know if there is a report which gives the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank ( ATAR) for High Schools, as this would seems a good guide point which universities then use to rank student applications. Failing that any report which provides comparison guides would be handy . thanks Tim and Laura
  10. My husband will contact you later today to share his C.V so that you can see if it would be a match for the role from his work experience and whether they would be interested . Thanks for your response. Laura

  12. That would be good Jim, we would like to do that and would phone, will follow this up. thanks for your support. Laura
  13. Thanks for your reply, it helps to chase away all the worries involved when you hear that it has worked out for someone else and you are glad you have made the move for yourselves. My husband is still keen and your response is reassuring, he is likely to be out before xmas to validate the visa and put out his C.V. Laura
  14. We can still validate our 489 visa and spend the next 2 years in Aus and we are keen to do this, however, we have the usual worry about work. My Husband will be giving up a job in the U.K to do this and the family will follow if the work situation can sustain us in Adelaide. He is an ICT Sale Manager, a IT engineer with a degree/MA who has gone into sales and business development. Robert Walters report for Adelaide says this are of work is slowly improving and 2 recruitment specialists in this field say the market is better. For us, it is difficult to gauge if this is so and whether we should abandon this goal due to the effects of the recession and the local Adelaide market. We so want to come, but, with three children and a dog will soon spend over £20,000 getting us all there with furniture etc. and then need to live. We do not know anyone in this field in Adelaide to talk to that can be honest with us to help us make our decision. We need to be out for xmas as we stayed in the UK after a reccie in 2012 due to economic. We know vacancies appear after end of Jan, would a UK migrant get a job and what are the numbers looking for these jobs?? Can anyone help us please. Laura
  15. 1. 489 Timetighttimeframe to validatde/can still have have holiday out of country in 2years? I have a quickquestion, which I hope you can help me with. We have a 489 visa and hope to follow the pathway to a 887 visa, which I know requires 2 yearsresidence in South Australia/one year working and I have read that evidence ofrental agreements, wage slips etc is used to verify that the applicant has metthe 2 year criteria. We received the visa in Dec 2012 and visited Adelaide soon after, however, with the economic downturn we went home and stayed in England in our jobs. We have till Dec 10th this year to validate and forfill the residence criteria, i.e., 2 years out of the 4.. Can you tell me if I take a 2 week holiday outside Australia during the 2 yearcriteria remaining period of my visa if that would cause problems, andinvalidate the visa due to not having 2x 365 days in the counrty for 2 years. We would still have rentals, etc in AUS. We would like to have a holiday out of Aus in that time back to England due to parents being old. Tim and Laura Confused and looking for clarity on this issue, can anyone help? Tim.
