  1. Hiya, we moved in January. Staying in cbd at the moment but moving to Northgate at the end of the month. I'd love to meet up with other mums

Hi, Congratulations we're coming over on a 457 visa also. I'm sitting in a hotel as our house is all packed up. Flying tomorrow morning! I'm no help in regards to the actual move as my husband's company dealt with all of that. Hope you get everything sorted quickly, do you have a start date for work yet?
  4. Thanks, so water charges aren't expensive brilliant!
  5. Hi, I'm obsessively checking out houses online. I've got real estate app and looking at gumtree, is there another website I'm missing? The houses in Northgate are amazing and very reasonable is it a good area? I mean safe and well connected with transport and shops/cafes? One more question! I've noticed some places say that the tenant is responsible for water charges? Will this be very costly? We'll be looking to get a three bedroom house two adults one baby, approximately how much would I need to budget for? Thanks in advance 

    Visas arrived!

So got our visas this morning, looks like my husband will be starting work mid January and I'll follow a bit later. So much to do, you'd think we'd be organised seeing as we did a move from the UK just last year but no we've tons of clutter to get through. Again! Can't wait!
  7. Hi, We are in the process of moving for my husband's job and they are sorting everything out. We received today our bupa healthcare package which states that pregnancy will not be supported for the first year. I take it on a 457 visa we need the bupa to access the public healthcare is that right? I'm getting on a bit don't know if I've got another year to try for #2 ?
  8. Oh crap, knew there had to be a catch! Thanks
  9. Sorry just seen you're moving Jan 15 think that's about right for us too but waiting on HR aaarhg!
  10. I've got an Australian friend here who's lived in Adelaide and she assures me there's not a catch but I don't know. We currently spend 50% of salary on rent so $400 p/w looks awesome are you over now or making the move?
  11. Hey, sorry I don't understand you mean the same as me? You think its fairly reasonable?
  12. Do you my mind if I jump in on your thread? I'm a mobile beauty therapist. My husband has just received a job offer for Adelaide today. Do you think its feasible for me to work there. Is their a saturation level of mobile beauty therapists? Is it a service that's in demand? Sorry to butt in! Cat
  13. What would be in your opinion the best areas to stay in? Thanks so much for taking the time to reply
  14. I should have said we will be renting and I'll not be working. Half an hour to the airport is great I just didn't want a two hour round trip every time I'm confused, I don't know if I'm missing something or I've just lived in expensive oil towns for too long but the house rentals look reasonable to me. I'm surprised it looks like we can afford a LOT more in Adelaide than here ( here being the 2nd most expensive city in the world though!)
  15. Hi, We are currently living in Norway as UK expats. My husband has been offered a job working 2 on 2 off rotation and I would be based in Adelaide. Can you tell me is this a liveable wage for us? We have one toddler. Because I'll be on my own for half the time I really want to stay in a safe, child friendly area in the hopes of meeting some pals! And not too far from the airport (if possible). Any help would be very appreciated thanks
