  1. Hi...we were in hallett cove but moves to seacliff this week (so just down the road) we've been here 5 months and do love it...how you finding it? We have 2 girls 9 & 18mths.x
  2. I don't know the ins and outs of each course specifics, but I personally got a letter from my Uni stating the days I did. I just emailed my old tutor and she sent me the letter signed on Uni headed paper. If unsure ring the Australian assessing board as they are really helpful. Hope this helps. Gem.x
  3. Hi ladies...been here 5mth but dying to meet some young people to go for drinks, shopping, coffee etc with so I'm up for it? I'm 28 &!from Leeds originally, living in Hallett Cove but move to Seacliff in just over a week! Let me know if people want to do anything?xx
  4. Adelaide is really nice, lots of family things to do, and the beaches are lovely! It is very quiet though compared to Leeds! Hallett cove isn't far from noarlunga so if you're stuck for friends when you arrive give me a message and you will be more than welcome for a BBQ and drinks at ours!xx
  5. We have state sponsorship and for myself, my husband and our 2 girls it was around $8000 as far as I can remember but that was for visas and we did it without an agent...hope that helps.xx
  6. I'm Gemma...28 from Leeds. Been here 3 weeks and going stir crazy! Husband is working, 9 yr old daughter is at school and I'm at home with our 1 yr old (I'm having some time off as I only had 16wk maternity leave as had to save to come here.) Living in hallett cove and wondering if there are any ladies (mums or not) who are as bored as me and need someone to talk to! Had such a large circle of friends at home that being here on my own is proving difficult! Love a coffee, wine, walks, shopping, music, going out, cinema, NRL & pretty much everything! Please tell me I'm not the onlyl one?
  7. Thanks for all the advice...purchased comfy bots yesterday and no leaks yeah!xx
  8. Hi I'm Gemma (28) and myself and husband Paul recently arrived in hallett cove with our 9yr old and 1yr old girls. We do know some people but no one has children! Are there any tots groups close by? I am pining for home and some girly chats...feeling a little isolated! Thanks in advance. Gem.x
  9. We arrived in hallett cove a fortnight ago, and we are struggling to find a decent nappy brand for our 13mth old. In the uk we used pampers, but cannot seem to find them here. We've tried nappy love and huggies but both are leaking and nappy love caused a really red sore bottom! Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! Gem.x
  10. Thank you for the reply. Really informative if I decide to work with the little ones but thus far I'm not looking to work with under 3s, ideally I'm looking at reception and hoping my BA Hons in primary education with QTS (5-11) will suffice for this? Will definitely look into your suggestions though so thank you!I've also already had my qualifications assessed & certified by AITSL as a primary teacher so hoping this can get me some TRT work to begin with.
  11. A bit late in the thread I know...but as a family member of people who have taken part in the show I can assure you lots of the things in the show are untrue, house prices were inflated, job prospects were not truthful (as in wages, hours etc) and house valuations in England were staged. Alos all financial bits were compared to english prices and you can't think like that, it tribe based on the adelaide standard that way you gain a more realistic view, everything seems extortionate when compared to here. My in laws moved out to adelaide 4 years ago and a haven't looked back since, it definitely hasn't been a walk in the park for them but a move to a country on the other side of the world is never going to be plain sailing. Myself, my husband and our 2 girls (9mths and 8yrs) are moving over in May. Job markets struggle wherever you are BUT if the move feels right for you then go for it, obviously there will be some struggles but that's all part of the adventure isn't? Good luck and I hope you find the jobs you are looking for. Gemma ?
  12. I currently teach reception in England and have done for 3 years. My degree is a primary education one and our visas were granted on my primary education degree. The question I am wondering is would I be able to work in an a early years classroom, or would I need a further qualification to teach this even though I teach early years in England? Any advice would be much appreciated! Gemma
