  1. I'm on the same visa and asked immigration before we left the UK the same question and they said I could do any job (not necessarily linked to my nominated occupation). I've looked at the online form and it does not ask what job you have been doing and on the checklist I think it only asks for proof you have been working full-time for 12 months. From memory this can be 1 job or made up of part time jobs to meet the neccesary time required per week.
  2. If you get a multi trip ticket (lets u use the train, bus and tram 10 times) its $30.90. So just under $3.09 per trip and 1trip allows you to ride on any public transport for 2 hours.
  3. I basically looked at most of the online broker companies and chose the one that gave the best rate at the time which was World First. If you transfer over £5k there is no transfer fee (so you just pay the exchange rate they quote you which is probably adjusted for the fee anyway but the rate always seems good), you can do it all online if you want or speak to them in their English or Australian office. I imagine most are the same as this but I have only used World First and would recommend then
  4. From memory if you were employed by a company in the UK and transferred to Adelaide with that company then you can claim it (you're supposed to be going back to the UK). I'm on a 475, left my job in the UK and found a new job here and didn't feel that this was covered.
  5. Hi Im going to apply for an 887 visa at the end of august but am going to Singapore for a couple of weeks at the end of September. I wondered what the process was after you have been granted a permenant visa I.e. do u need to send your passport anywhere and how long this may take. Thanks Tim
  6. I think you've clicked on the wrong link try the below immi.gov.au/e_visa/general-skilled-migration.htm and then click application for a general skilled migration visa
  7. Hi Martin, I'm happy to give you a hit, there's a court near me in the city if that 's any good. I live in Semaphore so not that keen travelling down south too far. I play state one for south Adelaide. For social best to head to south Adelaide on a sat morning. I'm sure if u ring them they can put you in contact with someone that's a regular. There's always a bunch of guys down there on a Tuesday that finish up just before the pennant starts at 730. Tim

  9. We'rein the same position as u but a year to go to get our 887. I understand this visa allows u to live anywhere in oz. I think its got regional in the name cause u have to be on a regional visa to apply for it.
  10. HiWhen we did our reccie we opened an account with commonwealth bank in Glenelg with $50. Then got back to UK and transferred what we needed into the account. When u transfer u need to do it from the bank where the money is coming from. Saying that it is normal about 25 gbp for the transfer and you get a poor exchange rate. We used an fx broker (which is free if transferring more than $5k and u call them to get a rate and then transfer the money from ur account to theirs (they banked with Barclays) and they forward it to your account in aus.
  11. Just for info they were doing this deal when I came over last year and I didn't do business with either. I just called the qantas number and got the same rate anyway so don't worry if u don't qualify, just give them a call and pretend u do. Think my flight was640 one way from heathrow to Adelaide via Singapore (4 hour stop over) in standard economy with 40kgs of luggage. I'm 6ft4 and came on an a380 and leg room was fine, best flight I've ever had.

I came over last august and everyone was drinking becks vier and san miguel. Must admit I do miss them. Here I drink Coopers Pale mostly.
  13. Hi Tiffany I'm a bit older than u (31) but also from Chelmsford and arrived in Adelaide in August. If u like decota/yates then head to Henley beach for a day/night out and you'll soon be pleased u came out. The city has some great places to go u just need to know where. There are loads of sports clubs around so would recommended looking into that or some kind of fitness class like zumba, which my girlfriend loves, to meet people. For young people wanting a social life is recommend Glenelg or Henley although I'm sure there are some other nice suburbs about. For those getting here soon apparently the Adelaide fringe festival is supposed to be very good.
  14. Sounds good count me and my other half in. Where abouts will everyone be in there.
  15. Thanks. See you on Saturday, with water.
