  1. I think transfercar.com.au offer a similar service, it's a fab idea, we are thinking of doing one of these next year.
  2. Whilst some people clearly do struggle with finding work, this is not the case for everyone. It is important people know the balanced view and not just the bitter, negative side which can be terrifying for those who have already committed to the move. My husband and I both found work within a month of arriving, he switched careers completely (from finance to travel) which was exactly as desired. This year I decided to leave the IT company I had been with since arriving and switch back to higher education - it took a lot of determination and many, many applications but I got there. We are definitely not 2nd rate people doing 3rd rate jobs. Work is there, but it won't be handed to you on a plate and some people struggle and get disillusioned and then seem to love scare mongering on here.
  3. Yes, I have registered and had the letter to my Australian address to confirm it is where the postal vote will arrive. I was pretty pleased to find out I could still vote in the UK as I can't vote here until I'm a citizen which is a few years off. Not being able to have a say anywhere would have annoyed me.
  4. Definitely drive up to Wilpena Pound and walk the trails, there are different lengths and difficulties and it is really beautiful and free (just the cost of the national park pass which is about $20 per vehicle I think). From Rawnsley Park there are also a couple of walking trails which are spectacular at sunrise/sunset. The Woolshed restaurant there is also v good (medium priced).
  5. Try Adelaide Word of Mouth too, I've been to one of their breakfast events and it was pretty good: http://awom.com.au/
  6. I made an oreo cheesecake at the weekend, found plenty of supplies of the normal packets in Glenelg Coles if it's any help.
  7. Bit of a hipster vibe but Pure in Glenelg does awesome coffee and a great range of alcoholic coffees for post dinner too (their Devils Chai is amazing), we sometimes get takeaway to watch the sunset with as they are right near the beach.
  8. This is only our second summer here and I am already totally down with that entire list, we rent a house with no air con and it's almost funny how hot we get, I've been doing number 16 continuously!
  9. Geez what a load of scaremongering tosh, I currently live in vibrant, beautiful, awesome Glenelg, I lived in London at the time of the 7/7 bombings, wherever you live there are always the risk of accidents, terrorism, natural disasters...it's called life. If you let the fear of any of these things affect your judgement then you may as well go and live as a hermit in a cave. And as for Adelaide not being a cultural centre, I'm slightly baffled as to how you could ever say that!? Hilarious. There is just as much accessible culture here as in many European cities, also a lot more inclusive events for people of all ages and backgrounds, I guess that's why SA is the festival state.
  10. Oops - yes - quite right Diane - I meant Goolwa! Lol
  11. Strathalbyn is also very close to the awesome wineries of Langhorne Creek and you can visit Gawler on the way back - a lovely trip which we did in a weekend a few months ago. Also visiting the Flinders is well worth it, though it's a further drive than Clare, Wilpena Pound is absolutely stunning and the Flinders are an amazing sight at sunset.
  12. I have Amaysim unlimited, love it, totally enough data and calls etc for me at a pretty good price ($40 per month). No issues with coverage for me either - I live in glenelg and work in the CBD.
  13. Apologies, Sidestep, that bleary eyed first thing this morning I momentarily forgot to check their profile. Love the sarcasm on here
  14. Whereabouts are you based? Might be interested.
  15. Yep, Amaysim are good for high data, the $40 a month gets 4GB and I never manage to use it all despite hammering it quite a lot!
