Devastated- our visas were weeks away

The new processing times really suck !!!!!

have hardly slept all night since digesting the information we received yesterday, we have received out state sponsorship but are NOT on the CSL, so now we possibly have 3 years to wait, it seems so unfair, i dont get it, we have done verything asked of us, we have uploaded our medicals and police checks to our case officer and were probably literally a few weeks away from having the visas, i sympathise with everyone in the same position as us, now we have to decide what to do next (although there arent many choices), i am trying to think that these things happen for a reason but right now i am just frustrated and upset as we were planning to be in Adelaide by Jan 2010.

Sorry, needed to vent my frustration somewhere !

If there is not a lot of work here where would you be better off?

Of course i do not know the exact circumstances, but the place has changed a lot on the job front in the last 12 months alone!

Shona and family,

What rotten timing. Really sorry to hear your news. Sometimes things are just meant to be but I'm sure you will get to Adelaide eventually. Hope you have some other options to look at. Take care.

Gutted for you, we're in the same boat although not as far down the process route as yourselves. We are trying to look on the positive side but its not easy.

I'm sure we'll get there eventually, keep the faith!

It seems really unfair if they can apply these changes to applications that already being processed. I can understand it if it were only for new applications submitted after September 23rd.

On the bright side, by the time you get to Adelaide the exchange rate will hopefully be a lot better than it is now and if you have a property to sell you should get more money for it.

Don't give up folks!!!!!

The same happened to us fours years ago.I was been sponsored by a company in Perth and While they were filling in the sponsorship the government changed the criteria for the visa and we were no longer eligible to apply. Our immigration agent told us then that we wolld not get here because we did not have enough points and were over 40.

Two years ago they changed the visa criteria again and we got in by sitting the english test and getting the extra points.

Please don't give up.We were devastated at the time but did get here in the end

Hi Shona

Really sorry to hear your news. You seemed to be getting excited about it lately. Don't give up, like Lesly & Ian, the goal posts moved for us a couple of times, but we got here. Where there's a will theres a way. Wre there any other avenues you can go down? Keep going and you will get here. Take care.

Thanks Jackie, we were getting excited lately as it seemed so much closer, we were making plans to sell the house etc.

The other avenue we have to go down is possibly find an employer to sponsor OH as these are now priority procesing

So if anyone works for or knows the Managers etc for any car dealerships, especially Porsche or BMW (as a mechanic/technician this is what he has specialised in for years, please PM me, any help would be muich appreciated.

Hi Shona and family,

I know what you mean.

We aren't as far down the line as you guys but we changed our visa from a 475 to a family one and lodged it on 14th September. However our agent called us the other day and told us that it could take 3 years.

We too are in our forties and our teenagers are 15 and nearly 17. Our 17 year old will be in full time education until he is over 18 (6th form) and would like to go to University (he wanted to do this in Australia).

It's not fair, it's playing with peoples lives.

Fingers cross for us all that they change it in the not too distant future and we'll get out their soon.

x

thanks, i know i guess they dont think about the people behind the applications they process and the disappointment and disruption that is caused to their lives, hopefully something will change soon.

i wish you all the best too. xxx
