Back on topic......
I know some folk who came out here years ago when it was 1 : 1, they have never had a lot of money here but would do it all over again.
We're coming in three weeks, so the exchange rates a bit sh*t, makes me glad i've got bugger all really but what i do have has got to come with me, got cars to buy, houses to rent and no job as yet :D
It was an opinion poll that caused the pound to slide yesterday as the voters don't know who to vote for. Political uncertainty over the upcoming general election is spooking the markets.
The UK is hugely in debt - taxes need to rise and public spending needs to be drastically cut.
That kind of action is hugely unpopular and nobody is going to get elected if that is what they are promising. Unfortunately that is what has got to happen. The government are too spineless to take drastic action now to start fixing the economy because they know they won't win the next election.
Personally I can't believe anyone would want to keep the current governement in power but maybe the alternative isn't that attractive either. If neither party has a majority after the election, the lack of action to solve the crisis will just continue and things will get worse.
We need the election to hurry up and happen and one party to win decisively. We then need them to take the reins and start trying to sort the mess out. Then maybe the exchange rate will start improving.
Anyone thinking of staying there or going back - you will be paying off the UKs debt for years to come. I wouldn't even consider going back - get yourselves out of the gloom and into the sunshine!!;)
