Insurance for the first few weeks

Hi can anyone recommend insurance for the first few weeks while we find our feet? Coming in August...at last!! Penny

For the journey out when you migrate, you will need specialist one way migration insurance. You cannot use standard UK holiday travel insurance. We used Go Walkabout. If it's still the same, their cover also extended to your first 21 (or was it 28?) days in Oz, to give you time to sort out ongoing cover over here. Your options over here depend on whether you are a temporary or permanent resident. I have permanent residency, so I have Medicare and also private cover on same basis as citizens. Not an expert on temp residency, but I believe it is more expensive for private cover as you have to pay international premium rates. Maybe someone with accurate info on temp res could out you right on that bit.

We went with direct travel, had to book on internet but worked out at £58 for 3 adults for 17 days.
