I have had an appointment with my doctor who has just told me I have a heart murmer , Not really had any problems other than what my previous doctor said were panic attacts:wacko: apparently not. I'm really not that sort of person so to be honest was a little confused by his diognosis.

Anyway now i'm panicing this will effect the results of my medicals (if we ever get that far) any one got any idea if it would??!!! I may just start having panic attacks now ;).

Cheers

Hi

How strange, years ago I had what the doctor diagnosed as Panic Attacks, tightness in my chest and throat and a racing heart, at the time this happened I was under a lot of stress although I was the last person to admit or acknowledge this.

Anyhow they returned this year only more frequently to the point I was scared that I was having a heart attack or certainly symptoms that something was very wrong. After being referred to a cardiologist and wearing a monitor for a week turns out that my heart is fine although I have a fast heart rate at normal rate without exerting myself its about 110. The upshot is mine was a stress related and although generally I’m not to stressed, if like me you are the one doing all logistics of this move your body is just telling you to slow down........................

Both the cardiologist and doctor were prepared to write a letter to confirm that this is not going to be an ongoing medical problem should I require, but as far as I know I shouldn't need to ask for this.

Don’t worry, I’m sure it won’t affect your application in anyway, and our medicals were so vague that I doubt it will even be picked up unless specifically looking for it (if you know what I mean)

Best of Luck

Michelle

Hi,

My doctor today said that the symptoms I was having that my previous doctor diognosed as panic attacks, could well be due to the the heart murmur. Do the doctors not check your heart while doing the medicals? If so they will know about the murmur! would it be wise to take info from my doctor?

Thanks

Nikki,

sorry to hear the news, hope everythings ok. Try not to worry im sure everything will be ok. Dont know enough about the medicals but it may be best to chat with your doctor before hand about it. I find it hard to believe that this will affect the meds when done but it may just need some more tests or details. Im led to believe that most things that can be wrong with people do not affect the decision. But to allow them to know in advance the likely "burdens" the health system will have to treat. Not 100% sure but im sure everything will be ok.

Probably the stress of all the applications and waiting. Anyway you got to get there as whos going to cut my hair!

Hi Nikki,

Sorry to hear your news, that would set the panic in even if there was nothing wrong before, it's a traumatic time enough as it is.

If its any consolation, my mother-in-law got rushed into hospital with a suspected heart attack, but as it turned out it was an infection which was causing her heart to race and cause tightness, since then the infection has cleared up, but she still has a racing pulse and heart rate.

They now believe that this is her normal rate and do not believe there is any concern.

Sorry to go on.......... but you might find out you are in a similar situation. Here's hoping!!!

good luck and best wishes anyway.

HI,

Thanks for your replies and words of encouragement, I'm sure I will be fine I'm stubborn if nothing else, these things are sent to try us :skeptical:.

Any how spoke to my agent who said that as long as its a minor thing there shouldn't be a problem and it wouldn't be a bad idea to get the specialist to write a prognosis, all aus want to know is of any potential burden on the state in the future and as its probably a very minor thing I'm sure all will be A ok!!!

One thing though its made me even sure that I want to go to Aus, when the doctor was explaining about things all that was going through my head was Oh god but I want to live in Aus, The medicals !:arghh: in fact that was the first thing I said to Lee!!

Anyway thanks again :wubclub:

Hey!

For your info i have a systolic (???) heart murmer.... the doc did listen to my heart, but he didnt seem to notice it! Luckily we had a report from a doctor from 1987 that said i had a healthy heart!

I think as long as it doesnt affect your life should be fine...however doc might ask for a cardiologist report!!!!
